ENDGAME MASTERPOST

There are a lot of endgame posts floating around at this point, and many of them need to be their own post because of how much information is in each of them, so to keep everything organized, we've created this masterpost, which will be stickied at the top of the ooc comm.

New links will be added as the posts go up.

ENDGAME PART 2

SUMMARY

Armed with the Miracle Machine, and facing a universe that's starting to break down at the seams, the Legion must venture through Chronoblivion's outer shells - made up of the fragments of dead universes - to allow the Miracle Machine access to the dimensional space the Big C's core self exists in. Only when they're technically in the right reality can the device alter the reality in it to defeat him.

But Chronoblivion's shell is a dangerous place. Many of the individuals that have tried to look into its depths have gone mad, and every brave fool that's wandered in has never come out, nor have they broken through to the other side.

The only chance the Legion has of breaking through the shell - and also breaking it down enough to get a crack at the gooey center - is if they rely on each other on the journey through. Because if they get stuck there, the twisted pocket dimensions within will grind them away until they cease to exist.

ENDGAME PART 1

SUMMARY

This is it, the day the Legion has been dreading since finding out about the threat of Chronoblivion. Chronoblivion's eyes watch over every world as the massive being starts to consume the Legion's universe - and with it, the multiverse. Metron's throne has guided them towards something that can be used to fight Chronoblivion: The Miracle Machine, a mysterious device passed between the Metrons of different timelines that's capable of granting its bearer a "wish," i.e. the ability, to (very briefly) alter reality. This device is powerful enough to create or destroy universes and therefore is powerful enough to destroy the sentient universe trying to consume all of existence.

Brainiac 5 now knows where to find the Legionnaires that were lost over a year ago - and using one of their powers, he can breach into the Miracle Machine's hiding place so they can use it to defeat Chronoblivion once and for all. But there's a catch: the machine powers up by feeding on the background consciousness of sentient beings and it can't do so if all the sentients nearby are preoccupied with fear and hopelessness as the Catastrophists and Metron's other minions weaken its last defenses.

Now the Legion must bring hope to the galaxy at least one more time to have any chance at all of defeating Chronoblivion and saving all of existence.

ENDGAME FINAL CHECK-IN

This is the game's very last check-In for endgame! For this check-in you are not required to post activity proofs, this is just to register that you're planning on participating. Before hitting up any plot posts, please check in here to give the mods a head count going into endgame.

You may post multiple characters in the same comment. If you're bringing back dropped characters for endgame, please list them as well.

Returned players: Since this is just a final headcount for endgame, please also respond.

There is no deadline for this check in. But before you sign up or participate for any of the main endgame plot parts, you must check in here so we can get an overall count.

If you're a latecomer to endgame (like returning player joining in halfway through), you can still check in here at any time before you join in.

ENDGAME OPEN INVITE

With endgame approaching, The Legion is extending an open invitation for any past players that want to join in for endgame to return to the game app-free! Any player that has ever played at the game may also join the game's post-endgame sandbox, as well. The only exceptions are the few players who were banned.

CURRENT STATE OF THE LEGION

Massive constructs - Chronoblivion's eyes - now float around every UP planet, watching them all as it prepares to consume the Legion's universe and then every other world after. Legion World has been destroyed. The war planet Apokolips - once the home of Superman's godlike archnemesis, Darkseid - still acts as a base for the forces of evil. Led by Chronoblivion's Herald, The Penitant, it's manned by nihilistic Catastrophist cultists that want to bring about the end of days.

But there's still hope. Though Legion World is gone, its self-destruct crippled Apokolips, leaving it stationary in space and unable to stalk the Legion. Taking refuge in a cramped, cloaked, decommissioned, barely-functioning Legion Outpost, the team is still refusing to give up and preparing for its final assault on Chronoblivion. Armed with the ancient chair of Metron, once belonging to the New God of knowledge, the team has a chance to get their hands on an artifact powerful enough to stop the Big C.

There's still a chance they can win against this cosmic evil. They may be outnumbered, outgunned, and under-equipped, but all it'll take is the Legion overcoming impossible odds against against an enemy that's never been beaten...

Um.

Piece of cake, right?

Luckily, the Time Trapper is willing to pull out all the stops and bring back some familiar faces to help out.

So here's the situation: Legion World is going to be under attack by the Penitant and her forces on Apokolips. She's going to end up unleashing a monster that will attack the negine core that powers Legion World. If it breaches the negine power core, everyone on Legion World will die.

The Legion will have three options at that point that they'll have mere minutes to vote on. First, T-Gate away blindly in the hopes that they'll arrive somewhere friendly. Second, eject the core and detonate it, killing the monster. Third, destroy Legion World in the hopes of taking the baddies with them.

In preparation for endgame, we're designating this week for players to set up any threads they want to happen before endgame. This will allow players the ability to backtag for as long as they need. If you'd like to set up a last minute private player mission, you can also propose that so it can be set up now.

You can still bendytime future threads to pre-endgame if you need to, but we thought giving players a solid week to do this would let them have a little time oocly to do their setups and wrap up loose ends.

While there will be chances in the future for people to set up starters in reaction to ongoing events, and lulls between events that will allow for final threads before the main endgame events, this will be the last week that the current status quo of the game is in place.

Then, the first endgame event, "Lights Out" will go up on: 12/13/17

Only 7 days left until the start of the endgame phase, Legionnaires! Gogogo!

GAME CAPS

The mods have talked over some things in regards to game caps.

During endgame and in the post-game sandbox, all game caps will be removed. The player cap will be removed, so that all players, current or past, can play in endgame and the post-game sandbox. (However, the game will remain closed to new players on a permanent basis once new player apps close for endgame. Only present or past players may participate in endgame and the post-game sandbox.) We'll also be removing cast caps and the characters-per-player cap as well, to allow all past or present players to bring in as many of their current or past characters that they want.

All that said, in light of cast caps no longer being needed since we're close to endgame, and in the spirit of not inhibiting anyone's fun, we've decided to remove all cast caps right before endgame, starting now, to let players app in whoever they want right before endgame, to get their last characters in so they can participate in the sandbox later.

That said, the overall player cap and the character-per-player cap will still remain in place until the main events of endgame start.

ENDGAME DISCUSSION

Hey there, Legionnaires! Korel here.

After some crit and discussion with a few players the mod team sat down and had a talk about the pacing of the rest of the game and endgame. Alongside having to consider certain things that people felt they were missing out on, we also had to consider some natural hurdles certain conceits of the game have caused the game to hit. We also had to consider the mod team's time and energy, especially with various RL things in the way, like escalating school responsibilities, new jobs, the upcoming retail season crush, and, in my case, having to move in the middle of Alaska winter to a new place and potentially going fulltime at my job, which would entail a lot of responsibilities like even being on call sometimes for surgeries.

Right now the mods are feeling a little burnt out. This mod burnout is no one's fault; you've been an amazing playerbase to mod. But the kind of sustained attention and energy a game requires is just a lot to juggle over a long period of time, especially given some of the RL situations of the mods. At this point in the game, so close to endgame, it just doesn't make sense to try to pull new mods on, either, and Legion being based on a specific canon has always made that a tough prospect.

For this reason, we've decided to move endgame up a little bit, to try to give the game a satisfying ending and move it along to the post-endgame sandbox before it loses momentum and before the mods get too burnt out. We apologize for those that recently apped or thought they'd have more time. We do plan to give you a set time to set up stuff if you want to backtag pre-endgame stuff and endgame itself should have some fun things to play out. The game will also definitely still have its post-game sandbox set up for anyone that keeps wanting to play. It's just we feel we should get to that a little sooner since it'll be self-sustaining and not reliant on the mods for people to have fun.

We have a timeline in mind for the next few months that we'd like to put forth for your consideration and while moving endgame up sooner isn't a choice that's open for discussion because part of it is based on trying to wrap things while the mods still have the time and energy, a lot of the things that happen during the leadup and endgame itself are flexible and open for discussion.
