AN EYE FOR AN EYE - [modplot/ooc post/signups]

While the rest of the UP is reeling from techno-zombie infection, the Spectre attacks Takron Galtos, the UP's highest security prison, and starts killing inmates -- some of which are villains and criminals the Legionnaires themselves have put in jail. The Legionnaires that respond will have to decide where they stand on protecting the lives of the Spectre's villainous victims, and will have to figure out who among them can wield the Spear of Destiny against the Spectre. And those that have shed innocent blood themselves may find themselves in the Spectre's crosshairs.

LOG THREAD
SETTING
The plot will take place on Takron-Galtos, the prison planet, the highest-security prison in the galaxy. Currently, Takron-Galtos houses many of the villains the Legion has arrested so far, including the two alternate versions of Arcade, several members of the Fatal Five, Harrow, and many members of the Legion of Supervillains (including the 3 of its leaders, Mastermind, Lightning Lord, and Saturn Queen), among others. (The arrested Heralds, Joker and War, are currently still safely contained on Legion World).
The Spectre is now going on a rampage, killing many of the prisoners and criminals inside and must be contained in his former prison, an ark, using the Spear of Destiny.
PLOT PARTS
PRE-MISSION NETWORK POST
A network post will go up pre-mission where the characters going on the mission can decide among themselves who is the most pure-hearted, so they know who must wield the Spear of Destiny on the mission.
PART 1: THE KILLING FIELDS
Everyone facing the Spectre must make their way through the ruined prison, occasionally fending off scared prisoners that are trying to escape. One of the main floors of the prison has been reshaped into something horrible, where many prisoners are trapped in death traps.
In this area, characters on this mission that have killed innocent people may need to be rescued by teammates from ironic death traps they suddenly find themselves in. Players must npc their own death traps, but can ask the mods for help in the "Mod Questions" subthread to think them up.
PART 2: THE SPECTRE
While brute force can't really harm the Spectre it can be used to fend him off while the assigned team member uses the Spear of Destiny to trap him. Groups fighting the Spectre can split into different groups that the players decide. (For instance, some groups can work on attacking the Spectre himself, others can work on getting small parts of the security system online to attack him, etc.
The mods will NPC the Spectre.
PART 3: PRISON BREAK
With the threat of the Spectre gone, inmates will start trying to escape the prison. With its security systems offline, and comms and the the T-gate suddenly down due to the Brainiac attacks raging elsewhere in the UP, the Legionnaires will have to band together with the Legion Liasson Officer Shvaugn Erin, and the surviving prison guards and Science Police officers, to stop a prison break, so that the inmates are contained before the T-gates are back online, so they can't escape through them.
Players will be expected to npc their own criminals but can request specific already villains from plots past in the subthreads below if they'd like to face off against a previously captured villain. If this villain was npced by a fellow player, please contact that player instead.
GEAR
Much of the team's gear will not be functioning well due to the ongoing Brainiac attacks.
Omnicoms: While character will retain their omnnicoms, they'll find them with limited functionality, with signal that isn't as strong as usual.
Telepathic Earplugs: The telepathic earplugs will be nonfunctional and replaced with low-tech but less hackable primitive translator commbadges. These can sometimes cut out.
Flight rings: All flight rings will be completely nonfunctional.
Threshold Gates: Due to the threshold gates being an invention of Brainiac 5, many of them will be compromised and offline. In the middle of the plot Takron-Galtos will be cut off from emergency T-gate travel, leaving the group inside to fend off the prison break alone. They must put down the prison break before the gate is back online so the prisoners can't escape through it.
Transuits: Even the transuits will be compromised, causing the team to revert to an earlier prototype that's flawed but harder to mess with by external means. While the normal transuits can usually provide hours of clean air, air pressure simulation, and temperature control, these transuits are disposable, and can only supply an hour of life support before failing and needing to be swapped for an entirely new suit.
Transuits can protect against some of the conditions and attacks of the metahuman inmates of Takron-Galtos.
THE SPECTRE
The Spectre is the spirit of God's vengeance, but due to his current host not being able to properly temper him, he's been running rampant, causing more and more attacks on unpunished murderers.
The Spectre targets specifically those that have killed unjustly. People that have killed in self defense or defense of others, or those that have killed fellow combatants during warfare (in circumstances where the war is at least somewhat understandable, such as being at war against invading aliens) stay under his radar. However, those that have murdered in cold blood, or acted as assassins for sinister causes may find themselves under attack during the plot.
The Spectre's death traps are usually ironic. (ex: a cat breeder famed for possessing the only viable male, inherited from their uncle who was murdered in a "tragic" autonav malfunction, being turned into a mouse and having their cats set on them.) Players of characters who have murdered are free to make up the most ironic death trap they can think of.
NPCS
Officer Shvaughn Erin: The Legion's Liasson Officer, Shvaughn will help the team coordinate with the prison's security staff to put down the prison uprising.
OPT OUTS
ICly, for those that don't want to participate, their character can participate in "Resistance is Futile" which runs at the same time as this plot, and fight robo-zombies. Players can also run private plots set during this time, that are set elsewhere in the UP, or handwave their character as participating in a mission on the fringes of UP space, where they would find themselves locked out of communication and transport with and to Legion World, with no way of knowing what's going on.
OOCly, to have ways of playing that can avoid the plot, alongside player plots, players are allowed to "bendytime" game threads so they're set before the plot, as a way of resuming normal RP.
WHO CAN SIGN UP
There are no OOC limitations on who can sign up, other than characters participating in this plot can't also be signed up for "Resistance Is Futile" as they take place at the same time.
However, characters will be treated as having ICly volunteered and thus must be the types that are willing to volunteer for the mission. All characters will also be warned by Kid Q that if they have the murder of innocents in their history, they may potentially be targeted by the Spectre, and thus are going on this mission at their own risk.
PLOT START
Sign up for the plot is open until: 8/10/17 11:59 PM EST
Plot will go up: 8/11/17
