THE BOOKS OF MAGIC - [master infopost/signups] [modplot]

THE BOOKS OF MAGIC
BASIC INFO

To lock the Spectre back in his tomb, the Legion must first find out how the magical heroes of old imprisoned him in the first place. Fortunately, the mages on Sorceror's World can start the Legion on their journey. A magical artifact will transport the Legionnaires across the various magical realms of the DC universe, to find golden puzzle pieces that must be attached to the artifact. Once the artifact is completely rebuilt, it will show them a vision of how the imprisonment was done and send them towards something they can use to imprison him once more.

In the process of doing all this, the Legionnaires can also find out the nature of the being spying on Legion World and how it can be stopped.

PART 1: FELLOWSHIP OF THE BLING

Characters will split into pairs and be magically transported across the magical realms of the DC Universe. Each pair will find themselves engaging in a short challenge or task in their respective magical realm that will allow them to get the golden puzzle piece they need. In this part, players are allowed to choose their own pairs, but the realms will be RNGed by the mods.

If the number of pairs signing up exceeds the number of realms, the mods have a few backups they can add to this info post to make sure there are enough.

THE REALMS

Atlantis: This underwater realm is home to mer-people and other water-dwellers, and is an ancient place of magic, where the first human magical bloodlines started. To find the puzzle piece, the Legionnaires will have to search the ruins of one of the greatest kings of Atlantis, Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman. Legionnaires that travel here must use their transuits and flight rings to move under the water and will face dangerous creatures in the deep.

The Bleed: This is the nothing-space between dimensions, a place where eldritch beings like Chronoblivion and the Faceless lurk. Any characters that go to this realm will find themselves in facing a monstrous otherdimensional being called Mother (not to be confused with the Other Mother) who lives in a strange dimension that is ruled by meta-fictional forces. The more genre-savvy they are, the better their chances of survival.
ex: 1, 2, 3

Delirium's Realm: The realms of the eternal beings known as the Endless have, for reasons unknown, been abandoned. Delirium, who once was called Delight, has a realm that has run wild, becoming even stranger and more nonsensical than it was in the past Legionnaires that end up here will have to survive a dangerous and delirious wonderland of sights and sounds that is ruled by nonsense.
ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

The Dreaming: This realm of Dream, the Endless, is a place formed by the unconscious and conscious dreaming minds of mankind. Like Delirium's realm it has long since been abandoned, but the dreams and nightmares themselves run wild hear, twisting reality in dangerous ways. Due to the assimilation of aliens on Earth and the mixing of species, the Dreaming has become even more wild than in the past, morphing to include

The End of Time: One of the puzzle pieces is hidden at the end of time itself, in a strange castle at the point where all possible timelines converge. The amalgamated souls of every being that has ever lived in the universe are all that lives here, in archetypal forms that will be both helpful and unhelpful to the Legionnaires. But an even greater challenge lies ahead due to the nature of this location being so far in the future: getting back to the past. Travel to the future is easier than travel to the past, so Legionnaires that end up here must find another way besides using the artifact to get back to the 31st century.

Faerie: The realm of Faerie is a beautiful timeless realm where the fae of the DC Universe live. A world of strange unspoken rules, promises, songs, and bargains, the Legionnaires will find getting in easy enough -- but escaping with your soul, memories, and youth intact are much more difficult due to the tricky nature of its denizens.
ex: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Hell: Exactly what it says on the tin. The darkest and most dangerous of the magical realms, hell is a nightmarish place where demons dwell and despairing souls are eternally tormented. The Legionnaires that end up here will have to navigate countless dangers and turn away from temptations to avoid getting trapped here forever.
ex: 1, 2, 3, 4

Mount Olympus: A realm of gods and monsters, the fragmented, fading remains of the Greek Gods dwell here, long forgotten by most of the universe. Sustained only by whispers of history and the belief of the last of the Themyscirans, the haughty gods will still demand Legionnaires perform mythical challenges to gain access to the puzzle piece held here.
ex: 1

Nanda Parbat: This monastery, the realm of goddess Rama Kushna, has remained unchanged for thousands of years and is still exactly the way it was 1000 years in the past when many heroes in the past traveled there. Legionnaires must past tests of self-reflection and self-awareness to gain access to the puzzle piece.
ex: 1, 2

The Parliament of Trees: The Parliament of Trees are the beings that rule the Green, a universal force of nature in the DC universe. To get in the good graces of the Parliament, the Legionnaires must help restore the Man-Thing, so that he can heal a sacred place in the realms of the Parliament that has been damaged by the encroachment of technology.
ex: 1

The Sourcewall: This structure lies beyond the edge of the known universe. Beyond it is the Source, a cosmic being that is the source of all that exists. While it is theoretically possible to look beyond the wall, countless beings have been captured here and their giant forms have been made into part of the wall, due to them daring to attempt to gaze at the Source on the other side. Any Legionnaires that end up here must traverse into the Sourcewall to find the puzzle piece and face an incredible test of will to leave and prevent themselves from becoming part of the wall.
ex: 1, 2

Themyscira: Once a thriving island of immortal women, Paradise Island is now sparsely populated, due to several catastrophic events over the last 1000 years. The Legionnaires must get in the good graces of the Amazons that are left, and undergo a test of truth to gain access to the puzzle piece.
ex: 1

The Tower of Fate: The tower of the Lord of Order, Dr. Fate, contains impossible Escher-like mazes that can be passed through if the traveler is clever enough. The helmet of Dr. Fate still lies here, untouched, and a Legionnaires most go into the realm inside it and bargain with Dr. Fate to find the puzzle piece.

PART 2: WRATH OF GOD TYPE STUFF

After the puzzle artifact is completed, the original cause of the Spectre's imprisonment will be shown, allowing the team to know what must retrieved to trap the Spectre once more. At this point, the device will transport them all to a final location, where the teams must face another set of challenges to get their hands on what they need.

In this part, new pairs will be formed, and instead of choosing ahead of time, these pairs will be RNGed. While all of these pairs must succeed to open up the last compartment, only one individual will be able to able to perform the final action that ends the plot and obtains what the team needs.

The kicker: rather than being RNGed, the characters will have to ICly decide which team-mate does it, due to the specific nature of the last challenge.

HOW NPCING WILL WORK:

This plot will be heavily npced, with the mods posting npc posts that let characters have multiple options to choose from, "choose your own adventure" style. All options have the potential to allow characters to reach the puzzle pieces but the difficulty in getting there will be decided by the choices they make.

Team - actually I don't have a clever name for this. A funny one is Team Where's Wally.

Team Dead Girlfriends? Dark.

Anyway, Kyle Rayner and Joey Wilson.
