FLASHPLOT SIGNUP

Platinum here.

Time to set up more Flashplots.

First: What are Flashplots?

Flashplots are adventures usually designed for one person but that can be expanded to cover a small group. They are, by design, very short. Usually between 10 and 20 posts, with fifteen comments total being a good number to aim for. They are never world shaking or planetwide crises, but they're things like "Rescuing people from an apartment fire", "stopping a bank robbery", and "keeping that out of control bus of sick orphans from speeding into the atomic testing area".

Think of them as the first few pages of a comic book where the hero swoops in and handles some little crime before the real plot stops. The crisis starts, he arrives, he handles it, chats with the crowd, and moves on to get to the actual story.

Second: What are Flashplots good for?

To give your character awesome little scenes where they can save the day by themselves and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done! Bragging rights! Recognition from NPCS ranging from "Oh Grud, it's the Legion!" to "Remember the time Spider-Woman saved a tram full of school kids after they smashed into a building?" They also count as a plot participation credit for AC purposes (not that it matters much this month! Free AC! Check the other mod posts for further details.)

Third: How do Flashplots work?

You sign up, saying whether you'd prefer to be solo or if you're willing to be in a group. (If you ARE looking for a group deal, please talk it out with potential group members beforehand!) Also, if you have a plot or a type of scenario in mind, please feel free to mention it. If you don't, I'll ask a few questions, then brainstorm up a situation. Once we've come up with something you think would be fun (and don't forget, Flashplots are all about the player. I'm just facilitating the fun here.) then I'll make a post, bring it up to you, and you can start posting away.

I am more than willing to play out a specific scenario that you want done. However, bear in mind that if you do not have a clear scenario, then your characters will go through a short, random generator designed for them to succeed.

Fourth: How many Flashplots will run at once?

As many as I can handle. However, a player can only have one Flashplot active at a time. While you can start a new Flashplot just as soon as the old one wraps up, it's easier just to run things one at a time. This doesn't mean that I won't be running more than one Flashplot at a time, however. Just that a single player can only have the one.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask inside. Otherwise, just make a comment in this post if you'd like to participate.

so uh

what if saiyaman and saiyawoman stopped a bank robbery together and got some posing and speeches in there?

I've been hand-waving that they've been doing standard patrol stuff, stopping standard crime here and there. Car chases, convenience store robberies, street-level stuff like that, just to say people know about the posing.

But yeah, it's been a while since they've gotten to do anything relatively major where they actually went full ham with the posing and speeches, so I thought maybe a bank robbery where they try to defuse the situation with posing and speeches before things go south and they actually work together to take the robbers down could happen.

I was not aware of this! Okay, dial that back then.

How would you guys feel about beating up giant (I say giant, closer to twenty feet tall.) robots sent to rob banks and museums?

The Saiyas like to go out and fight street level crime in their spare time so they can destress and wind down from all these crushing universe crises that keep happening. (I keep forgetting about this myself lmao)

Also that sounds awesome

We'd like a flashplot for Wash and Locus, please! Something that:

- Forces them to work together (not just "be in the same space trying to do the same thing," but actual teamwork)
- Requires the two of them and can't be subbed out for another Legionnaire (no, really, there is no one else, get going)
- Involves saving people

Please and thank you!

Something where powers like probability manipulation, Gambit stuff, marksmanship, and invisibility would come in handy...

How about an accident at some Photonic Energy Lab? Requiring a two-man team to get in and navigate the photon fields (would invisibility render someone immune to light-based damage? I've honestly never considered that before.) to shut down the generators powering everything before the out-of-control energy pulses annihilate everything in an X-mile radius? And, of course, pulling injured personnel out of the rubble of the collapsing facility and making new exits?

Probability manipulation and Gambit stuff are York's schtick, actually - Wash has a healing factor and power nullification. |Db Given that, the idea might need tweaking, but it sounds good!

I specifically looked at Wash's powerset and went "Wait, no, I'm just confusing them because the armor's the same. I need York."

I am interested in participating! After a recent thread Jason has decided to start visiting some of the alien planets and learning about their mythologies/religions--basically anything dealing with gods and the like. Which would probably mean visiting places related to that and getting involved in something in those locations.

Me me me! I'd love for Strange to get to do something to save some people, if you've got room for one more! I don't have a particular scenario in mind but maybe something classic like saving a bus full of old ladies from crashing, that sort of thing. Bonus if his ego gets trampled along the way.
