Upcoming Plots Discussion
Hey there, Legionnaires!
Periodically, we like to check in with the playerbase to figure out what the upcoming plots are going to be and see if we need to rearrange the plots, add a new one to the calendar, or make any changes based on what the playerbase wants.
RECENT PLOTS
Recently, we had "Resistance is Futile" and "An Eye For An Eye" which were very large gamewide plots. Next month we'd like to give the game a breather with something smaller and lighter, but after that we'd like to slowly drive up tension in preparation for endgame.
UPCOMING PLOTS
Media Hijinks: Legion Watch, IC Anon Meme, posting the Legionnaire Legacies due at the end of August. The Gone-Away World: While on the run, criminals discover a world where they can create anything by willing it into existence! They cannot directly affect people, nor can anything they create be taken off-world, but while they're there, they can live like kings. Will the Legion be able to combat crime on a world where everyone's wills define reality? Set during "All Your Base" and "Apocalypse Now." All Your Base: Several digital archaeologists on Earth try a revolutionary new method of archaeological research using magic provided by sorcerers from Sorcerers' World, but something goes terribly wrong. The memes in the ancient computers they're searching are magically brought to life and start swarming all over Seattle and the surrounding areas. Legionnaires will have to face everything from Moon Moon to Slenderman to Actual Cannibal Shia LeBeouf, and gotta catch em' all to shove them back into the computer and close the portal for good. Set during "The Gone-Away World" and "Apocalypse Now." Apocalypse Now: After enlisting the aid of a suicide cult, The Catastrophists, who want the multiverse to end, one of the last free heralds of Chronoblivion plans to awaken an ancient evil. The Legion has seen what the wrath of the Spectre can do, but the Spectre wasn't the only angel God sent to Earth to enact his will. Before the Spectre, he sent his Angel of Wrath to earth to punish the wicked and clean the world of vice and iniquity. After rebelling against God, this angel turned into a dark spirit and renamed itself Eclipso. Capable of possessing people like the Spectre, and capable of bringing out the inner evil inside people's souls, the team will have only one chance to prevent another avatar of God's wrath from getting free like the Spectre did. Because of Eclipso's corrosive influence, some Legionnaires may find themselves facing off against their corrupted teammates. Set during "The Gone-Away World" and "All Your Base." Media Hijinks: Legion Watch and possibly some Legionnaire Legacies. The Body Snatchers: After the Legion is asked to provide security for a treaty conference between the UP and a new potential member world, several Legionnaires find themselves at the center of a dangerous conspiracy. The planet's security forces start attempting to monitor and then capture them and even several other Legionnaires like Kid Q and Brainiac 5 seem to be under the control of whatever force is behind it all, turning on their teammates and attempting to capture them as well. The un-brainwashed Legionnaires must uncover the truth, dismantle the conspiracy, and prevent assassins from killing important officials, or the treaty conference is doomed to failure -- all while avoiding coming under the mental control of those behind the conspiracy. Set during "Game of Throne." Game of Throne: Study of the Book of Magic given to the team by the Wizard finally starts to bear fruit. Close to successfully interpreting it so the team can use its knowledge to find something to use in the fight against Chronoblivion, a few of the book's last defenses cause havoc on Legion World, unleashing magical effects like indoor flooding, inverted gravity (so characters have to walk on ceilings and avoid crashing furniture), characters having personal theme music play around them from nowhere, and a plague of frogs, among other things. The team must work together to break the last of the books' defenses to undo the magic effects and reveal its secrets. Set during "The Body Snatchers." The discoveries in the book will cause the team to start facing the final leg of their adventure, where they'll have to start on a quest across the galaxy and across different dimensions to find what they need to stop Chronoblivion. Media Hijinks: IC Anon Meme, possible Legion Watch, some Legionnaire Legacies. Information Redacted: Inspired by "Cabin in the Woods" and the SCP Foundation, several Legionnaires are tasked with finding something in another dimension that can be used to fight Chronoblivion. They'll find themselves in a facility that studies and imprisons oddities. Fiction in this world corresponds to the Legionnaires' lives by coincidence. However, instead of telling the truth about them being from another universe, the Facility lies to them and tells them they're tulpas based on fictional characters and that their entire lives are a lie. The Facility intends to imprison them for the rest of their lives. The Facility also monitors the slumber of several ancient elder gods, the Old Ones, who must be pacified by a yearly sacrifice of several teenagers. After the teens are tricked into a trip to a cabin in the woods, and some of the Facility's collected monsters are released to kill them, the Legionnaires must escape the Facility, find the MacGuffin they're looking for, and fight to save the teens and their world from the Facility and the Old Ones. Set during "Bloodsport" and "After These Messages." Bloodsport: Val Armorr, the Karate Kid, has gone missing while searching for one of the items needed to fight Chronoblivion. An informant tells the Legion that an underground fighting arena is hosting a bloody tournament where most fights end in death. The prize? An item of great power and the skills of the galaxy's greatest fighter - or the chance to kill him. Champion's choice. Several of the more skilled fighters in the Legion must disguise themselves with holograms and fight their way to the top to bring Val and the MacGuffin home. And then fight their way out with martial skill alone. Set during "Information Redacted" and "After These Messages." After These Messages: On one of their interdimensional retrieval missions, the Legionnaires make first contact with a planet whose entire culture is based on outrageous TV shows. They must go through strange game show scenarios to have a chance of interacting with any of the world's leaders to get what they need for their struggle against the Big C. Set during "Information Redacted" and "Bloodsport." Media Hijinks: Possible Legion Watch, some Legionnaire Legacies. Fantastic Planet: One of the Legion's interdimensional missions takes them to a After being captured by a young Draag named Tiwa, who saves them from being killed by some destructive children, they are treated like toys. To escape living as pets to the end of their days, they must find a way to communicate with Tiwa and the Draags to make a proper first contact and convince them of their (and the Om's) intelligence, and/or find a way to signal Legion World for rescue. Set during "Unconquerable." Unconquerable: One of the Legion's otherdimensional adventures takes them to a world where society is controlled by a rigid authoritarian government and divided by factions based on vocab words. Everyone in this society must be sorted into their respective Contingent when they come of age by means of a symbolic test. In their Contingent, they're not allowed to feel more than one type of way and have to perform jobs they're not necessarily a good fit for. Those who don't fit into just one category because they're three dimensional characters are considered Aberrant, and must hide this fact from society. Fortunately, one Aberrant teenage girl, Ophelia "Feely" Heartwell and her broody love interest, Chadnus Bethian, and her other love interest she's not going to hook up with, Whatshisname McNobody, are going to defy everything. ...and while she's busy doing all that several Legionnaires must pretend to be teenagers, disguise themselves with holograms and telepathic implants that make others believe they were part of this society all along, join the Valiant Faction, undergo their really stupid tests, and steal their shit during some kind of uprising thing. Set during "Fantastic Planet." |
PLAYER PLOTS
As usual, player plots can be run during any of these other plots. If you'd like help making up a player plot up or would like to incorporate threads of the mod plot into things contact the mods and we'll help you out.
After "Apocalypse Now," player plot missions can entail gathering a certain type of MacGuffin from all over the galaxy and multiverse to build something that can be used against Chronoblivion. However, normal missions where characters just protect the UP from threats can also still be run.
You can also adopt a plot idea off of the Plot In a Can post and run it.
FEEDBACK
Please answer these questions for the mods.
1) Do you like the plots listed on the lineup?
2) If you do, do you want any of the upcoming plots changed, rearranged, or not set at the same time as other plots?
3) If these plots aren't to your liking, would you like something else? If you'd like something else, what kind of plot are you hoping for in terms of genre or focus? For instance: adventure, diplomacy, horror, some kind of disaster response, or anything else you can think of.
Please let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and feel free to ask any questions. When we're sure of a gameplan, we'll update the game calendar and do a new State of the Plot post.
