"GODS AMONG US" HERO SCENARIO SIGNUP
For the "Gods Among Us" plot, there will be five different superhero origin stories that the players who have signed up for the plot can choose from.
HERO SCENARIOS
BATMAN
Characters will arrive moments after young Bruce Wayne's parents have been shot and the robber has run away, as Bruce kneels near his parents' bodies in the alley. Randall Dowling will attempt to use his power of manipulating minds to convince the already-despondent young Bruce that it'd be a good idea to throw himself in front of traffic. Those that arrive on scene will have to save Bruce and fight Dowling, even as he tries to overwhelm them with mental impulses that would cause them harm.
Content Warning: This fight will involve parental death and child endangerment, as well as mentions of suicide. Also, Dowling's mind powers are possible to fight off but he will give the people fighting him impulses to hurt themselves and each other that they have to resist while fighting him.
GREEN LANTERN
As Hal Jordan talks to the dying alien Green Lantern, Abin Sur, in the wreckage of his spaceship in the California desert, Jacob Greene prepares himself for a fight nearby. While covering himself in yellow paint may seem like a silly way for Jacob to make himself immune to the power of the ring so he can kill the one many will come to call "The Greatest Green Lantern," it isn't. Due to the taint of the fear entity Parallax in the central power battery, Green Lantern rings at this time are unable to effect anything yellow. That means that if the Legionnaires don't stop Jacob, the newly forged hero might find himself bludgeoned to death with Greene's painted superstrong fists.
ORACLE
Barbara Gordon was once the plucky and whip-sharp superheroine Batgirl, but after the Joker shot her in the spine and she lost the use of her legs, she used her vast intelligence and programming skills to become the hacker and information broker known as Oracle. Before long, Babs' influence as Oracle turned her into one of the lynchpin heroes of the DC Universe, a figure that countless heroes came to rely on for assistance in all things digital. Dowling will enact a plan to kill her when she's at her most vulnerable -- unconscious in her hospital room after the Joker shot her. And due to his machiavellian scheming and cruelty, it won't be one of the Four that attacks her. Due to contingency impulse left in a young Bruce Wayne's mind, meant to kick in and turn him into a sleeper cell if the attempt on his life failed, the Legionnaires will have to protect Babs from a brain-borked Batman himself.
SUPERMAN
After causing a traffic holdup that delays the Kents from seeing Superman's pod as it falls to Earth from space, William Leather will attempt to kill a baby Kal-El. Characters will have to fight against Leather despite his dangerous fire abilities and vast array of other powers. Then they'll have to find some way of attracting the Kents attention to the pod in a subtle way.
WONDER WOMAN
As a young and curious Diana of Themyscira sets foot in Man's World for the first time, and makes hopeful contact with a professor of history in Harvard University, the Legionnaires will have to keep Kim Suskind from assassinating her invisibly, as the Amazon princess isn't invulnerable yet and can't deflect a bullet she doesn't know is coming. Fortunately, they can use their omnicoms to detect the energy trail from the invisible assassin's time travel device to thwart the initial threat. Unfortunately, holding up an omnicom in an ongoing struggle isn't practical, and they'll have to figure out some other way of successfully fighting a threat that they can't see.
CHOOSING A SCENARIO
SIGN UPS
There are two ways to sign up. Either comment to this post with "RNG!" if you're fine with your character being RNGed to save a particular hero randomly. Or if you do have preferences, please least which scenarios you like order from the number one scenario you want to play the most, to the one you'd like to play the least. We'll try to go by people's preferences and use RNG to sort things out if too many have the same ones.
OPT OUTS
If you would like to opt out of the Batman scenario for any reason (as there are multiple potentially upsetting topics involved) please note it in your comment and we'll make sure to put your character in another scenario.
DEADLINE
Please sign up your character by 5/2/17 @ 11:59 pm EST or they'll automatically be RNGed. The next phase of plot will be posted immediately after signups close.
